The Class Piano program consists of 8 digital pianos (8 students per class), from beginning to advanced playing levels. Students meet for a one-hour class once a week. Classes are offered at various times for both adults and children. Piano skills studied are note reading, rhythm, technique, harmonization, ear training, theory, concepts of interpretation and style, sight-reading, and ensemble playing. A core curriculum is offered and additional materials are presented at each class. Class Piano is a fun and exciting way to learn to play!
$25.00 per class; $22.50 for siblings.
The private lesson program consists of one-on-one instruction (30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes), offered once a week by the faculty. Private lessons are available to students of any age and playing level in piano, theory, and composition. For piano instruction, students may start in the class piano program if they wish, and then graduate into private lessons as spaces become available. Repertoire will consist of standard classical music but can also include popular music, sacred, jazz, etc. Many students have a special interest in composition and theory and the faculty can integrate this work into private instrumental lessons. There are many opportunities for performance and quarterly performance classes are offered. Additionally, for those who have moved away (military families, for example), Dr. Bowling has developed a very successful private lesson program via the Internet.
